The vast empty spaces of this land fragmented by mountains evoke a sense of isolation and vulnerability. The dance unveils a state of vulnerability through images of space and solitude. Such a vulnerable state, however, allows one to become intimate with the Divine or lover, a common motif in Persian poetry, which is quoted in the music created for the dance. Intoxicated with such an intimate relationship, the dancer reaches a state of ecstasy, which is displayed by rhythmic, precise, and coordinated movements inspired by Bharata Natyam, Indian classical dance.
